EDC Agencies

EDC is Kansas City's primary economic development organization. It is an umbrella organization which has several affiliated agencies, established by statute, ordinance or contract, operating under its management and facilities.
DOWNTOWN ECONOMIC STIMULUS AUTHORITY (DESA)
DESA allocates new state revenue to be redirected for projects and revitalizes the urban core to provide a stimulus for the Missouri economy.
The EDC Loan Corporation assists small businesses by offering affordable loans and related assistance to encourage expansion and relocation.
ENHANCED ENTERPRISE ZONE (EEZ)
EEZ provide incentives such as state tax credits and local tax abatement to businesses that locate or grow their operations within a defined geographical area.
LAND CLEARANCE FOR REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (LCRA)
The LCRA removes blight and encourages redevelopment within designated urban renewal areas by providing property tax abatements, issuing bonds and assisting with land assembly.
The Port Authority promotes commerce, transportation, trade, riverfront development and economic vitality through revitalization of water, air and ground ports within the City.
TAX INCREMENT FINANCING COMMISSION (TIF) TIF is a development tool that allows both future real property taxes and economic activity taxes to pay for projects that could not be developed without TIF assistance.
