Columbus Park Developers were selected by the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority more than eight years ago to transform the 20-acre Columbus Park site, once dominated by public housing and old industrial buildings, into a vibrant urban village. Located north of 5th Street and just East of the River Market, Columbus Park encompasses 21 blocks of land.

#KCCornerstone Finalist, Columbus Park Lofts, is the first phase of the $70 million project. The $19.5 million first phase includes a 108-unit (54 of which will be workforce housing), five-building development with a mix of one- and two-bedroom units with open floor plans ranging from 675 to 875 square feet. The development offers over 6,000 square feet of community space. The community area includes a gallery, cafe, workspaces, a conference area, and other gathering spaces.

The project was designed by GastingerWalker and Clockwork Architecture + Design. Prairie Fire Construction Group, a companion firm to Prairie Fire Development Group, is the general contractor. When completed, the $70 million redevelopment project will add a total of about 360 apartments and 20,000 square feet of commercial space across 20 acres.
