In KC News by EDCKC Staff

Missouri’s resurgent automotive industry is bringing another leading automotive parts supplier and more jobs to the Kansas City region.  Grupo Antolin North America will invest more than $15.7 million in a 150,000 square-foot automotive manufacturing facility to supply Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, creating an estimated 118 new jobs. The company has already identified an existing building (148,000 square feet) located at 1601 Southern Road.

Grupo Antolin is a leader in the design, development and manufacture of interior components and modules for the automotive industry. Their customer portfolio features practically every car maker in the world. The Kansas City facility will be utilized for manufacturing, sequencing and assembly for these products.  The new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Kansas City will initially produce headliners for the all-new Ford Transit van, which will be manufactured at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant in Claycomo.

“Kansas City represents enormous opportunities for Grupo Antolin,” said Max Rogers, President of Grupo Antolin North America. “Missouri’s friendly corporate climate and close proximity to major automakers put us in a position to better serve our clients and continue to grow.”

“Grupo’s investment demonstrates our region’s strength as a manufacturing and transportation powerhouse,” says Bob Marcusse, president and CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council.  “Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, currently undergoing a $1.1 billion expansion, was the nation’s busiest auto plant last year, producing nearly a half-million units.”

Kansas City along with partners – The Missouri Partnership, Kansas City Area Development Council, KCPL, and the Kansas City Economic Development Corporation, have been courting Grupo since January of this year. The highly competitive project (Gupo was considering several locations in other states) came together after the team put together a proposal that met the company’s needs.
